Here you go, moms … a different kind of survey for a change! It’s all about you and your first baby. Tag all your mom friends so we can all learn more about each others’ firstborn!
1. Were you married at the time? Yes.
2. What was your reaction when you found out you were pregnant? Disbelief. I said, “What am I going to do?” Tom replied, “You’re going to have a baby.” He gave me the most wonderful hug and assured me he’d take care of me every step of the way – and he did. He’s been fantastic for all of the subsequent pregnancies and deliveries, too :)
3. Were you trying to have a baby? Not really.
4. How old were you? 20
5. How did you find out you were pregnant? I nearly puked after smelling cigarette smoke. My friend Karen said, “Maybe you’re pregnant?”
6. Who did you tell first? The grandmas – Becky and Gale :)
7. Who did you tell next? Brandy
8. Did you want to find out the sex? Yes, and it was not a “clear shot” – the tech’s guess was wrong. Unless it’s CLEARLY a boy, it could be a girl :)
9. If so, what was the first thing you did when you found out the sex? I can’t remember. But, I have always tried to find out. Knowing helps me to name the baby and it makes me feels more connected to the baby.
10. Did you deliver early or late? 1 day before my due date.
11. Did you have morning sickness? Not too bad. Perhaps for the first three months, but I avoided getting to the point of being too hungry, and I avoided foods that made me sick
12. What did you crave? Anything from burrito Loco in West Chester, PA
13. What irritated you the most? Smells.
14. What was your first child’s sex? Boy
15. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 30
16. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Premature labor.
17. How many hours were you in labor? 8 hours
18. Who drove you to the hospital? Tom
19. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? No
20. How much did your child weigh? 7 pounds 13 ounces.
21. What was your first reaction after your baby was finally here? Relief that he had a face, after all.
22. What did you name him/her? He is named after his dad – TCA IV
23. How old is your first born today? 7 years and 11 months.
24. Who does your child look like? His dad, but his hair is lighter and his skin is more fair
